Let’s Talk Derby!

A long tradition for Truman Charities is identifying fun, festive opportunities to throw a party to raise awareness and funds for a worthy Charity. On Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 5:30 to 9:00 at Tommy Joe’s in downtown Bethesda, Saddle Up for a Truman Charities Kentucky Derby Paddock Party. In keeping with Truman Charities’ commitment to transparency, all funds the Party raises will go to Kids In Need Distributors (KIND).

Feeding Montgomery County Children One School at a Time

KIND was founded by one of the nation’s top real estate agents, Jeremy Lichtenstein, who saw children in his community going hungry and decided to do something about it. Starting with one elementary school. Jeremy began making personal trips to the grocery store to pick up weekend school supplies for kids in need. Over a decade later, the program spends hundreds of thousands of dollars per year to feed hungry children in the Montgomery County School system, serving 27 schools and over 3,000 students. Every six weeks, Jeremy and his army of volunteers deliver nonperishable foods to participating schools so that teachers can slip discretely into backpacks for children to take home over the weekend. No one who works in KIND knows the names of the kids being served the food they desperately need.

A Party That Produces Great Results

Truman Charities knows how to throw a party. All the proceeds from ticket sales go to KIND, and community members have donated some fantastic prizes for raffle items to be won by people in attendance. This is not the first time that Truman Charities has raised funds for KIND, and they are excited to continue to support this worthy cause with another fun-filled evening.
